Both routes reached the schema library through a constant: the list of
document kinds, the list and bulk limits, the attachment cap, the Coach
data clusters and preference defaults, the conversation title length,
the scope source list and the report leaf order. Each sat in a schema
module, so importing the number shipped the library. The constants now
live in zod-free modules (lib/documents/inbound-constants,
lib/ai/coach/prefs-constants, lib/ai/coach/scope-sources,
lib/report-selection/catalogue) and the schema modules re-export them
for server code; the Coach page checks its scope parameter against the
closed list instead of parsing it. A guard walks each route's static
client graph with the TypeScript parser and fails on a zod import.
Two guards follow earlier commits in this branch: the fetch-limit
allowlist names the shared document picker sheet, and the card density
test states a floor on the cards it finds.
Linking documents to an illness episode and choosing documents for a
share link carried the same sheet as two copies: the same endpoint and
query key, the same debounced search, skeleton, error and empty states
and toggle rows. DocumentPickerSheet owns that body; each picker keeps
what a toggle means (an immediate link write, or a capped local choice
posted with the share link).
Nineteen cards spelled the compact tier by hand as gap-2 py-3 md:py-4,
which left the base md:gap-6 in place: a compact card opened a 24 px
gap between header and body on a desktop. Card takes density="compact"
now and pins the gap on both breakpoints; every hand-written compact
card, the priority card, the document card and the sample briefing
move onto it, and a test refuses the class list on a Card.
The precision guard on the steps page now reads rendered text only:
the page header's grid template (minmax(0,1fr)) matched its pattern.
The admin sections, the cycle, illness, medication, mood, records and
settings cards, the pickers and dialogs said nothing-here-yet in a
hand-written muted paragraph in five sizes and three alignments. List
and section states now render through EmptyState (plain, compact; the
three with a next step carry it as the action), and the six chart
bodies through ChartEmptyState at their former height. The thirteen
that stay are a field without a value or a hint inside an editor, not
a list state. The ratchet ceiling drops from 75 to 13.
The timeline's Segmented, the document sources' SegmentedChoice, the
medication detail's SegmentedToggle and the icon-only ViewToggle were
four implementations of the same control in two looks, two at 36 px on
a phone. ui/segmented.tsx replaces all four, plus the hand-rolled range
rows above the lab and custom metric charts, the mood dimension window
and the inventory quantity mode: a muted track with the chosen segment
raised, radio semantics with roving focus by default, pressed-button
semantics for view switches and form sheets, icon-only segments, and
44 px per segment on a coarse pointer. A test holds the definition to
that one module.
The lab list wrapped a long analyte name with overflow-wrap: anywhere,
which cut a word that would have fit on the next line in the middle
(Hämo|globin). It now wraps between words and hyphenates in the page
language, cutting only a word wider than the column. Token and client
names in the API and MCP settings used break-all for the same reason
and now wrap the same way; addresses and codes keep break-all.
Thirty-three hand-rolled underlined text links and buttons (Open
schedule, Select all, View all, Retry, Learn more, the device-code copy
action, ...) carried three different focus rings, none on half of them,
and a 16 px target on a phone. They now render through one InlineAction
primitive: tone primary / muted / foreground, size xs / sm, a focus ring,
and min-h-11 on a coarse pointer so the desktop layout does not move. A
structural test refuses a new hand-rolled copy.
The document vault and the admin area each carried a formatBytes; the
same backup read 1.25 MB in one and 1.2 MB in the other, and only the
vault knew gigabytes. The vault rule (one decimal below 100, up to GB,
digits in the reader's locale) now lives in src/lib/format/bytes.ts and
takes the locale, so the server-rendered share page uses it too. A test
holds the definition to that one module.
Around thirty surfaces drew a failed read their own way: a bare
destructive paragraph with no retry, a muted line saying the data was
still being learned, a skeleton that never ended, an error card nested
in a tile, or nothing at all. None of them told an ended session from a
refusal. They now use QueryErrorRow or QueryErrorCard with the query's
error and a retry, inset where a card already frames them, and keep
their card and title where the page would otherwise jump. Hydration and
caffeine now fail the same way.
The recovery page no longer points to Integrations while Oura's first
resilience level is simply on its way.
A guard reads every read hook's isError branch and refuses hand-rolled
markup there, and refuses a framed error row inside a card.
Output of `node scripts/strip-planning-tags.mjs --write`: 3,157 comment
lines in 1,308 files lose the work-item identifier at their head. Release
versions and issue references stay; nothing outside comment text
changes, which the script checks per file against a comment-free
printout. healthlog/no-planning-tags is enabled at error level with this
commit, so the tree it lands on is clean.
The Coach polled a staged document every 2.5 s until its content index
existed, which for a format that is never indexed meant for as long as the
Coach stayed open. It now stops with the same upload processing window the
documents list uses. Every client poll, its interval and its stop
condition is listed beside the dashboard cadence constant.
About forty compact rows and seventy cards still offered a retry on a
spent read budget and drew an error card on a refusal, while a third
primitive (ReadFailureRow) did the right thing at eight places.
QueryErrorRow and QueryErrorCard now take the query's `error` and read
it through readFailureKind, which moves to src/lib/api next to
ApiError: a refusal (403) draws the surface's refused state or nothing,
a spent budget (429) says so without a retry, an ended session (401)
says so and offers sign-in instead of going blank, and only a real
failure offers the retry. ReadFailureRow is gone and every site passes
its error; a guard test fails on a site that does not.
The coach read strip keeps its card in the error state and holds one
body height across loading, failure and a one-line read.
A shared related-records component renders related[] as rows that open the
server-resolved path, with how a derived relation runs. The medication
overview lists them and, in the account's own record, files its condition,
documents and visits; the visit sheet files medications and doses. The
condition page, the document sheet and the dose sheet list what their own
blocks do not already show. A dose's visit named by the form's field counts
as the same relation as the link table.
The marker list offers a merge with the server's preview: what moves, what
is converted, which names become aliases, and a refusal when a unit cannot
be converted; it says a merge cannot be undone. The marker page shows and
edits the other spellings and follows a merged marker to its target. Scan
and document review name the matched marker or offer its suggestions and a
new marker; the choice is remembered. The biomarkerMerge feature flag is
on.
Parser cases for every accepted form in de, en, es, fr, it, pl and ko and
the near misses that stay text; builder cases for every family; and an
integration walk over three years of lab results, conditions, visits and
documents, with records either side of each boundary in the person's
zone, across every page.
The visit form's lab picker offered the newest 200 results, the condition
picker the newest 100 conditions, the document pickers the newest thousand
documents and the document sheet's visit picker the newest 100 visits.
On a long record everything older could not be linked.
Each picker now opens on the records around the date of the thing being
linked, pages older and newer from there, and searches through the list
route itself. Records already linked always show, from the labels the
record's own read carries and from what was picked in the sheet.
The lab list takes a q filter over analyte and panel, the condition list
from/to/q/offset/sortDir, and the visit list an offset.
The document sheet gains an Open in new tab action for the types the
browser renders itself (PDF, JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF), so a long report
gets the browser's own zoom and search instead of the small preview. It
opens the object URL the sheet already fetched through the app transport:
a plain navigation to the serve route carries no record-session
assertion and would be refused inside a shared record. Every other type
keeps the download only, and the serve route's matrix now pins SVG and
HTML to attachment as well.
From 1280 px the day and, on /coach, the conversations each keep a
narrow strip at the right edge, open or not. A click on the strip opens
its panel left of the strips and a second click closes it; the strip
never moves. Strips start below the top bar's band, side by side,
conversations first. Below 1600 px one panel is open at a time.
The day slides like the conversations (width, 200 ms, none under reduced
motion), stays open through a page change instead of folding and
reopening, and does not slide in on arrival. Its content loads when a day
first opens, so the scores, sections and calendar leave the shell's first
load: every watched route falls back under its unchanged ceiling. The
aggregate cap is re-measured for the chunk double count this causes.
Every bundle value that chained facts with " · " now reads as a phrase,
a comma list or a parenthesis, in all seven locales, and the em-dash
separators in the day, documents, correlation, sharing, environment,
vaccination and Apple Health import strings become sentences or clauses.
The day view's running list names the record first, with the dose in
the name and a life event's category as a chip, and puts a quiet day
count below: "Day 4, since 31 December" instead of a dot chain. Document
meta, location periods, vaccination rows and mood crosstab rows drop
their composed dots too.
A guard walks every bundle and fails on any " · " outside a reasoned
allowlist, and on an allowlist entry that no longer needs its place.
An account that never picked an arrangement now sees the months flowing
across the width. The layout PUT stores only the fields the person chose,
so an untouched field keeps following the default while a saved choice
stays.
A span marked both shrink-0 and truncate never gives up width, so a
long source name on a collapsed priority group squeezed the metric
label at phone width, and a long month marker in the document flow
could overrun its cell. Both shrink now and cut with an ellipsis.
The bar dropped to the page edge at md, but the bottom bar follows the
shell and stays on a touch screen held sideways, which left the action
row, Delete included, half under it. Key the drop on shell-desktop and
include the home-indicator inset.
EmptyState now has a single action shape: centred at its own width on
the 44 px tap floor, never stretched edge to edge on some pages and
compact on others; the per-call-site size switch is gone, and the
dashed card takes the card radius. While a list is empty its empty
state carries the add action, so the header drops its own add button
there (measurements, mood, medications, labs, vaccinations, documents,
illness, check-ups, visits, procedures). The dashboard medication tile
of an account without medications offers 'Add a medication' instead of
'no data in the chosen range'.
The wrench beside Upload opens Settings, Appearance, Documents, the way
the illness journal offers its display options: preview cards or a
compact list, and months stacked as blocks or flowing across the full
width with the month name inline above the document that opens it. The
choice is stored per account in `users.documents_layout_json` behind
GET/PUT /api/documents/inbound/layout (preserve-when-absent, module
gated, the read delegable like the rest of the vault), carried in the
account-settings backup and cleared by the data wipe.
Deleting from the vault now always asks first. The bulk bar's Delete and
a focused card's Delete key both go through one confirmation on the page,
and the detail sheet's Delete opens its own; before, all three deleted on
the spot with only an undo toast behind them.
The selection bar is two tight lines: the count with an X at its right
edge, then one action row with Delete alone at the right in the
destructive style. Below 1024 px the verbs are icon-only at the 44 px tap
floor, so the row stays one line at 360 px. The bar carries the
selection-bar slot the Coach launcher already steps aside for.
A tap on a point, a bar, a calendar cell or a date now opens the day at
once, as a click does; the tooltip's second step is gone and the tapped
value heads the day. The dashboard's charts (not its today area), the
adherence chart, the rhythm events, the ECG list and detail and the rest
mode notes open their days too.
The day's header carries the close control top left, the Coach panel's
own toggle and glyph, the date on one centred line and the arrows on the
right. While the day is docked, the Coach button and the documents bar
move clear of it.
Smooth the layer: the tooltip no longer glides into place on touch, the
neighbouring day is read before a step, the sheet animates in 300 ms and
not at all under reduced motion, and the opener stays put while the page
beside the docked day reflows.
A date is now a door to its day (#613). `?day=YYYY-MM-DD` opens the day
over whichever page is open: docked beside it from 1280 px, the way the
Coach's conversations panel sits, a sheet from the right below that, and a
bottom sheet on a phone that opens at a little over half the height and
grows to full height from its handle. On /coach it is always a sheet, so
there is never more than one docked panel. Back and Escape close it, the
previous and next day replace the history entry instead of adding one,
Alt with an arrow steps a day, focus moves to the day's heading on open and
returns to whatever opened it on close, and a polite region names the day.
A malformed or future date is dropped from the URL.
The day shows the value it was opened from with its comparison, what ran
through the day, the readings against the person's own usual range on a
short number line (eight curated, the rest behind "All values"), and what
happened in order of the clock, each row linking to its record. Loading,
failure, an empty day and areas a grant does not cover each read as such.
The footer offers the timeline when that module is on and capture for the
day, with the capture forms starting on that date.
Doors into it: a click on a daily point of a metric chart (a tap shows the
value and the tooltip offers the day on touch screens), the dates in the
chart's data table, a quiet row of dots under the axis for days with
entries and a ring for notable ones, the lab chart and lab readings, the
measurement, mood and intake lists, symptom and illness day headings,
episode onset and recovery, document dates, workout dates, the workout
detail, the mood and adherence heatmaps, and the days a Coach answer's
get_day calls read, shown as chips. The next planned visit carries what
happened since the last one, each date opening its day, with a doctor
report for that window.
Not here, and frozen by a guard: the dashboard's today area, mini charts
in tiles, the cycle calendar, model-written text, future dates, the
clinician share link and the doctor-report PDF.
- Load each settings section on its own: the section route imported all
twenty-one statically. A preload starts the chunk beside the record
gate's read, and the loading state paints the settings card shell.
/settings/[section] goes from 611 to 403 KB gz.
- Take Zod out of the shell every route shares: the account-access parse
run on each boot is plain TypeScript now, held to the published schema
by an equivalence test over good and broken blocks. The canonical unit
table moves to its own module, so the display transform no longer
pulls Zod in either. Layout entry 199 to 136 KB gz; /insights 369 to
304, /medications 428 to 365, /labs 400 to 337.
- Open a saved Coach conversation at its last answer: an instant jump
instead of the smooth scroll that lost the end, then follow late
layout (charts, tables) for a few seconds until the reader scrolls.
- Show the document archive as a month grid of preview tiles, two
across on a phone and three or four on a desktop, with the month
headings kept.
- Add the admin card for the measurement table maintenance: a status
read on the maintenance route, one calm confirmation, and the run's
state while it is queued, running, finished or stopped.
- Re-base the bundle budget: /insights at 304, /settings/[section]
watched at 403, aggregate cap 4335 with the reason written down.
Every text-entry control (Input, Textarea, Select and NativeSelect
triggers, the date and time fields, the calendar's dropdowns, the Coach
composer and the hand-built note fields) now marks focus by turning its
border the new neutral input-focus tone, about 5:1 on the dark
background and 4:1 on the light one, with no ring. A text field matches
:focus-visible on every mouse click, so the ring was on for everyone.
An invalid field keeps its red border and draws its destructive ring
only while focused. Buttons, links, checkboxes and switches keep their
rings.
text-field-focus-guard.test.ts fails when a text-field class string
brings a focus ring or a primary/ring-coloured focus border back.
The facet triggers and the clear control were 32 px beside a 44/40 px
search field, below the phone tap floor. They now share its height and
reach 44 px square on a phone, and the browser's own clear button no
longer sits on the search icon when the field shrinks.
The vault's filter row gains a procedure facet beside the condition
facet. It lists the record's procedures and surgeries that hold at least
one live document, headed the way the visits page heads them (the
reason, else the practice, else the kind) with the body site and date
beneath, and narrows the list through the existing `encounterId` filter.
Same control, placement and clear behaviour as the condition facet; the
choice rides the URL as `?encounter=`, and an upload dropped into the
filtered view is filed against the procedure.
The usage read publishes the choices as `linkedProcedures` (additive),
decrypting only the label columns, and returns none when a sharing
grant does not cover the visits section.
On a phone an active facet now gives up label width before the search
field does, and the search keeps room for its icon and padding.
Label SICK_NOTE in all seven bundles and pin that every document kind
the database knows has a label in each locale, a place in the vault's
kind list and a glyph: the kind reaches the screen through a dynamic
key, which the call-site coverage guard cannot see.
A certificate of incapacity for work (in Germany the
Arbeitsunfähigkeitsbescheinigung) is now its own document kind,
SICK_NOTE, instead of Other. The enum value rides migration 0370.
Uploads, edits, the kind filter, bulk edits, the import script and the
backup format accept it; the vault files it with a thermometer glyph
between prescriptions and referrals; the filing suggestion can propose
it and names the words a sick note carries. The extraction's own kind
field keeps its three values.
The extract route accepts `Prefer: respond-async` for all three inputs
(text, stored, vision) and queues a DOCUMENT_EXTRACT run (added to
migration 0370). The run's result is the count of staged facts and the
document status; the facts themselves are read from the document.
Without the header the route answers with the document detail as
before; both paths run one shared body.
A background read can take minutes, and a review the person finishes in
the meantime must not have its approved facts replaced. Staging now
locks the document row and asks again whether it may stage, refusing
with the route's own alreadyConfirmed / alreadyPartlyConfirmed codes.
The synchronous path gets the same re-check.
The vault's stored-text extract uses the background path and shows the
shared waiting line in place of its hint while the read runs.
The summary and suggest routes accept `Prefer: respond-async`: after the
same quick refusals they answer 202 with a run id, and the background
document AI worker runs the read under two new run kinds
(DOCUMENT_SUMMARY, DOCUMENT_SUGGEST, migration 0370). Without the header
both routes answer synchronously as before; both paths run one shared
body, so they cannot drift.
The worker asks the capability for the record and re-checks the wire for
the provider it picks before every read. A summary that is to be stored
marks the document PENDING while queued, READY when it lands, and
UNAVAILABLE when the run fails or the write does not land. A second
request attaches to a live run only when it would produce the same thing.
The vault asks for both in the background and shows the same calm
waiting line the index uses, worded so a transient read never promises
that leaving the page keeps it. The egress guard and the route inventory
now hold every run kind to its dispatcher re-check and its capability.
The archive grouped a document without a stated date by the UTC day
of its upload, so an upload late on the last evening of a month west
of UTC opened next month's section (and early on the first morning
east of UTC, last month's). The upload day is now read in the
profile time zone for the month sections and the year filter.
"Read with AI" and the lab scan used to run their model calls inside the
request. At the default response time a read of three calls outlasted the
100 s a proxy in front of the server commonly allows, and the person saw a
cut connection for a read the server was still doing.
Both now run as a background run (`DocumentAiRun`, migration 0366):
- `POST /api/documents/inbound/{id}/index` with `Prefer: respond-async`
answers 202 with a run id once every quick refusal has passed. Without
the header it answers exactly as before, which the iPhone app relies on.
A second request while a read of the same document is queued or running
attaches to that run.
- `POST /api/labs/ocr/extract` always answers 202. Only the web client
calls it.
- `GET /api/ai-runs/{id}` serves the run: the same body the synchronous
route answers with, or the failure code and status it would have given.
Scoped to the caller; another account's run is a 404.
The worker (`document-ai-run`, a long queue with a one-hour expiry, one
job per run under `lockedPass`) claims the run, asks the capability again
for the record and re-checks the wire for the provider it picks, sets the
run's deadline from the person's AI response time and refuses a read that
cannot fit the job's expiry. Sync route and worker run one body per kind,
so the two paths cannot drift. Budget is reserved at enqueue and settled
once by whoever ends the run.
Input and result are sealed with labelled AES-256-GCM, registered for key
rotation; the input is dropped when the run ends. A five-minute reaper
fails a run no worker took within fifteen minutes (and hands its
reservation back), fails a run past its deadline, and deletes a finished
run after an hour. Runs are outside backups and inside the data wipe.
The web client polls through the query-key factory and says, calmly, that
the read continues in the background, and when no worker has picked it up.
The browser gave up on its own: 120 s for the document routes, 90 s for
a lab scan, and the 15 s default on the lab text path, while a slow
self-hosted model with a raised response timeout was still allowed to
answer. A five-page report read by a local model failed on the client
side with the server still working.
Each request now sizes its abort from ai.provider.responseTimeoutMs on
the account payload, times the model calls the route can make, plus
30 s: one call for suggest and summary, three for Read with AI (the
transcription, then the lab staging read and its corrective retry), two
for a lab scan (the read and its retry). With the setting unset that is
90 s, 210 s and 150 s.
Refs #1090
A date-only value is stored at 12:00 UTC. The lab list and history, the
document cards and pickers, the document date suggestion, extracted
fact dates, source-picker rows and the compliance and mood heatmaps
formatted that instant in the reader's zone, which is the next day from
UTC+12 to UTC+14.
`useCalendarDate` formats such a value through the UTC-pinned calendar
formatter the vaccination list already uses, with the same field order
and locale as instant dates. Lab readings hold both kinds, so
`useLabDate` reads a noon-UTC anchor as its calendar date and a reading
typed with its time of day in the reader's zone. A document without a
filing date shows its upload day, an instant, in the reader's zone.
Papra organization ids are checked against org_ plus 24 characters
before anything is sent. A 403 user.not_in_organization and a 400
server.invalid_request.params read as no such organization instead of a
refused key; the error body is read for its code and never passed on.
The connection test also reads the tags, so a key without tags:read
fails at save (permissionMissing) instead of on the first filter. Name
searches quote each word, so a leading dash is not a negation, and the
date range goes to Papra as date:>= / date:<= with the per-row check
kept as a net.
The settings card stays visible, read-only, while a connection is
stored but the operator list is gone or Documents is off, so the token
can still be removed; a new address asks for the token again. The
picker clears a selection when the search or a filter changes, says
when the 25-document limit is reached, steps back the rows a finished
run did not touch and offers Pick more, shows an empty state, and
announces each row's result to screen readers. Both system switches
are radio groups with one tab stop and arrow-key movement. Strings in
all seven languages.
