The measured first-load gap on / was never the server: FCP painted the
SSR shell at ~1.8 s but LCP landed at ~5.5 s (mobile-throttled) because
the tiles waited for JS download + hydrate + a CLIENT-side snapshot
fetch — while /api/dashboard/snapshot answers in ~8 ms server-side.
src/app/page.tsx is now a thin RSC wrapper: it runs the same cached
snapshot read the API route uses (extracted to
src/lib/dashboard/snapshot-read.ts, one shared SWR cell for both
readers) and hands the result to TanStack via HydrationBoundary +
dehydrate, so the first HTML carries real tile data and the mounted
cell starts warm (staleTime 60 s, refetchOnMount false — no double
fetch). Query keys come only from the central factory
(dashboardSnapshot(locale) + the dashboardWidgets seed the client cell
already performs); the payload is JSON-round-tripped so the hydrated
shape is byte-equal to the wire shape. Fail-soft: no session or any
builder error renders the page exactly as before. The 1,727-line client
page moves unchanged to src/app/page-client.tsx; no component-tree
rewrite.
Companion: the documented bundle tooling was dead on Turbopack
(ANALYZE=1 silent no-op, bundle-report read a webpack-only JSON), so
H2/H3-class regressions shipped invisibly. scripts/check-bundle-budget.mjs
derives per-route gzip totals from the Turbopack client-reference
manifests + rootMainFiles, prints the report (pnpm bundle-report), and
enforces bundle-budget.json (pnpm bundle-check): per-route caps,
total-client-JS cap, a recharts-duplication guard (fingerprint count
must stay 1), and a catalog guard (no message catalog referenced by any
route manifest). Wired into the existing e2e workflow after next build.
H4
Two independent every-load costs, one per layer:
1. The static EN import in load-locale.ts put the full en.json catalog
(334 KB raw / ~106 KB gz) into the client JS of EVERY route, for
every user in every language. No catalog is statically imported by
client code anymore: the EN fallback floor of the t() chain loads
lazily on the first actual key miss (the locale-integrity guard
keeps every locale key-complete, so the miss path is drift-only),
and the labs biomarker canonical-name lookup fetches EN on demand.
2. The root layout serialized the ENTIRE active-locale catalog into the
RSC flight payload of every document (392 KB of a 505 KB dashboard
HTML, re-downloaded on every hard load, uncacheable). The handoff is
now a versioned, immutable-cacheable boot script
(/i18n/<locale>?v=<build>, new route handler) that assigns
self.__HL_I18N before the hydration scripts run, plus a server-side
cache seed in load-locale.ts behind a typeof-window branch that
Turbopack compiles out of the browser bundle (verified: zero catalog
bytes in any client chunk, zero route manifests referencing one).
SSR text stays correct and the first client render holds the same
bundle the server rendered with — no EN flash, no hydration drift.
The boot script is public (proxy allowlist: the login page needs it
pre-auth; the body is the same catalog JSON that ships in the public
repo) and cache-first in the service worker, so an offline relaunch
finds it next to the cached shell.
Measured (client-reference manifests, gzip): route JS baseline
/ 391->287 KB gz, /insights 377->273, /measurements 379->275,
/insights/mood 394->290 — the ~104 KB gz EN catalog left every route.
H2
Full-catalogue coverage pass against the v4 data-types index. Three types
map onto existing MeasurementTypes and are now fetched in the metrics
bundle:
- blood-glucose -> BLOOD_GLUCOSE. `bloodGlucoseMilligramsPerDeciliter` is
already the canonical mg/dL storage unit; meal/timing/specimen enums are
not stored.
- core-body-temperature -> BODY_TEMPERATURE. `temperatureCelsius`, the core
slot — distinct from the surface-temperature buckets.
- daily-sleep-temperature-derivations -> WRIST_TEMPERATURE. The documented
`nightlyTemperatureCelsius` is an ABSOLUTE reading (the mean of the
night's skin-temperature samples), which refutes the earlier deviation-
only premise behind the launch omission. The baseline/stddev derivations
are not stored — the user's own series carries the baseline.
Every other catalogue type is now an explicit documented skip in
mapping.md with its reason (per-sample twins of the chosen daily grains,
zone-minutes types without a HealthLog concept, total-calories folding in
BMR, hydration/nutrition without a module, ECG/IRN behind their scope
policy). The structure probe iterates the type table, so the three new
types are probed automatically.
Daily HRV and resting heart rate returned HTTP 200 with zero imports on a
live Fitbit-band account. Full reconciliation against the v4 reference
(data-types index, DataPoint schema, list/reconcile/dailyRollUp pages)
surfaces three defects:
- The daily-summary `.date` filter prefix is the docs' own contradiction:
the data-types index's filter-parameter column says snake_case
(`daily_heart_rate_variability`), while the list reference's only worked
daily example is `dailyHeartRateVariability.date < "2024-08-15"` — the
camelCase payload key. Live, the snake form is accepted (200) but matches
nothing. Send the worked-example camelCase form first and re-walk once
with snake_case if the very first page 400s; annotate the accepted style
(`googleHealth.dateFilter.style`) and surface it through the structure
probe as `requestShape` so a live account settles the grammar.
- `daily-respiratory-rate` reads `breathsPerMinute` (a plain number); the
previously assumed `dailyRespiratoryRateBpm` leaf does not exist, so
RESPIRATORY_RATE never parsed a single row.
- `height` carries `heightMillimeters` (int64 string), not `heightMeters`;
the heightCm profile seed never fired. Convert mm -> cm.
Also cover the documented Exercise.ExerciseType catalogue in the sport map
(MOUNTAIN_BIKE, TRAIL_RUN, TREADMILL_WALK, STATIONARY_BIKE, SWIMMING_POOL,
FREE_WEIGHTS, CROSSFIT, TABATA_WORKOUT, ...) — the enum's multi-word values
previously fell through to "other".
Tests pin the documented field names per fixture, the camel-first/snake-
fallback walk (including no-fallback for sample shapes and unfiltered
backfills), and the extended sport map. mapping.md records the filter
contradiction and the corrected leaves.
The scoreRings doc comment still called the ring the pooled 7-day
adherence — that was the v1.27.7 first cut. Since v1.27.8 the ring is
today's taken/scheduled dose progress from the snapshot's own medsToday
block (see src/lib/dashboard/score-rings.ts). Comment-only change.
The MEDICATION_INTAKE_SYNC fan-out used to fire one silent APNs per
distinct dose slot, so a bulk intake marking five doses woke every other
device five times. Replace the per-slot dispatch with a per-user
coalescer: the first mutation in a burst dispatches immediately, every
further mutation inside the 2 s window folds into one trailing fan-out.
A bulk request now costs exactly one queue call, and a rapid burst of N
single-dose mutations costs at most two fan-outs. The window state is
in-process; multiple app instances throttle independently, which is
accepted because the iOS reconcile is idempotent and the deployment
model is a single container.
The silent payload shrinks to a pure sync trigger — eventType +
syncedAt. The per-slot medicationId / scheduledFor fields are gone: the
iOS handler runs a full reconcile regardless, a coalesced burst has no
single slot to name, and a push payload travels through Apple's
infrastructure, so it now carries no health data by construction. The
Live Activity end push likewise sends only the ActivityKit envelope.
The trailing flush keeps the origin skip only when every coalesced
mutation came from the same device; a mixed-origin burst wakes everyone.
Each flush still records one push_attempts ledger row, reaps
hard-rejected device tokens, and annotates the wide event with the
recipient count and coalesced-mutation count.
Thread the interpretation block into the generic per-metric assessment
path (the ~40 HealthKit metric cards). For a metric the knowledge base
covers, the prompt now carries the band table plus the server-computed
position of the current value, so the assessment names where the value
sits on the guideline scale and judges the trend by that position — the
visceral-fat 2.7 case now reads as "comfortably in the healthy band"
rather than reciting how many times it was logged.
The block is absent for uncovered metrics and for a sex-split band with
no known sex, so those cards fall back to exactly today's personal-relative
behaviour. Band edges carry no strip risk here — the generic assessment
path runs no post-generation numeric grounding gate.
Add two shared cross-surface contracts and compose them into the
assessment cards (base-system) and the comprehensive overview + daily
briefing (insight-generator):
- anti-recitation: a measurement count, a logging cadence, or page
mechanics is not an insight and may only appear when it carries a
consequence — stated as the consequence, not the count.
- interpretation-depth: say what a value MEANS, place it on its guideline
scale where one is attached, judge the trend by band position, and frame
the consequence without diagnosis; where no band exists, interpret
against the person's own baseline and say so honestly.
The cross-surface coverage guard now asserts both contracts reach the
surfaces that enforce them. The briefing's grounding and format machinery
is untouched.
Add a typed, hand-curated registry mapping metrics to guideline
interpretation bands derived strictly from the health knowledge base —
band edges, plain labels, valence, direction-of-good, and a source tag,
each entry citing the KB file + section it came from. A metric the KB
gives no numeric band for gets no entry, so its assessment stays
personal-relative rather than inventing a threshold.
The band position is computed server-side (`classifyBandPosition`, strict
upper-edge semantics + edge-hugging proximity), and `buildInterpretationBlock`
renders the table + placement into the assessment prompt so the model states
where a value sits and what the band means instead of reciting counts.
`interpretationBandEdges` exposes the edges for any numeric grounding gate.
Covers visceral fat, resting heart rate, blood oxygen, respiratory rate,
body temperature, sleep duration, waist (sex-split), waist-to-height,
pulse-wave velocity, and BMI. Tests pin every band edge against the
guideline value so a silent edit breaks a test.
The live 400 on fetchSteps suppressed fetchDistance / fetchFloors /
fetchActiveEnergy entirely: handleCollectionFetchError rethrew anything
that was not a per-class 403, and the rethrow escaped the rollup loop in
sync-activity, emptying the whole cumulative group after the first bad
collection.
- handleCollectionFetchError records the classified failure, warns with
the per-collection detail, and returns instead of rethrowing; every
call site already sits in a per-collection catch, so the sibling
collections keep fetching.
- A per-cycle hard-fail ledger (AsyncLocalStorage, mirroring the 403
soft-skip tracker) still fails the cycle: the run counts as a partial
error, the watermark is not stamped, and the next tick refetches the
window - a broken collection cannot silently advance past its gap.
- The orchestrator's per-resource warning names the resource explicitly;
fn.name minifies to a single letter in the production bundle (the live
log read "google-health c failed").
- Tests pin the no-rethrow contract per classification and the activity
loop reaching all four rollup types plus VO2 max after a steps failure.
The first live sync on v1.27.4 imported every list-based type but died on
the first cumulative chunk: fetchSteps(chunk=0,page=0) returned
HTTP 400 INVALID_ARGUMENT "Invalid argument in request.".
Re-verified the request contract against the v4 reference:
- Request body (users.dataTypes.dataPoints/dailyRollUp): range
{ start/end: CivilDateTime }, windowSizeDays, pageSize, pageToken,
dataSourceFamily - every field the client sends is legal under that
exact name.
- CivilDateTime (inlined on the DataPoint page): nested
{date:{year,month,day}, time:{hours,minutes,seconds,nanos}} objects.
- range: "Required. Closed-open range of data points that will be rolled
up. The start time must be aligned with the aggregation window. The
maximum range for calories-in-heart-rate-zone, heart-rate,
active-minutes and total-calories is 14 days. The maximum range for
all other data types is 90 days." - steps / distance / active-energy /
floors sit in the 90-day class, so the 90-day chunk constant stands
(the in-file "14-day-max" note applies to heart-rate only).
- The worked dailyRollUp example (developers.google.com/health/endpoints)
rolls up ONE civil day as start = {date: day, time: 00:00:00} and
end = {date: SAME day, time: 23:59:59} - the end bound names the last
covered day, not the next day's midnight.
The previous body sent end = {date: <next day>} with no time object, so
a maximal 90-day chunk touched 91 civil dates - the one divergence from
the documented example, and the prime suspect for the 400 (the docs do
not spell out how the cap counts days).
- buildDailyRollUpBody() pins the documented shape: explicit date+time
on both bounds, end = last covered day at 23:59:59, windowSizeDays: 1,
no pageSize (the documented default of 1440 covers the <=90 windows a
chunk can produce), pageToken threaded on follow-up pages.
- fetchDailyRollUp() keeps 90-day chunking; if the very FIRST request of
a walk is rejected with a 400 it re-walks the range once at the most
conservative documented span (14 days, the tightest cap the docs state
for any type) and annotates googleHealth.rollup.shape with the shape
that succeeded, so the next live sync reports which constraint binds.
- extractGoogleApiErrorDetail() surfaces AIP-193 error.details[]
BadRequest fieldViolations as "field: description" fragments (field
paths and descriptions only, redacted and capped at three), so the
next 400 names the offending request field in the logs instead of the
bare "Invalid argument in request.".
- mapping.md documents the verified range semantics; unit tests pin the
exact body JSON, the 90/91-day boundary, the fallback walk and the
violation extraction.
The first-paint ladder consulted only the healthlog-locale cookie and
Accept-Language — never User.locale. The cookie is written client-side
via document.cookie, which Safari ITP caps at 7 days, so a chosen
language silently reverted to the browser language once a week.
Three seams close it:
- resolveInitialLocale (extracted to src/lib/i18n/resolve-initial-locale.ts)
now reads User.locale on a cookie miss via a lightweight session read
(no sliding-expiry write, no cookie mutation, fail-soft) before the
Accept-Language fallback.
- PUT /api/auth/me/locale mirrors the accepted locale into the cookie
via Set-Cookie (365 days, SameSite=Lax, not HttpOnly, Secure via
shouldEmitSecureCookie) — server-set cookies are exempt from the ITP
cap, and the mount-time backfill hitting the route doubles as the
weekly refresh.
- getSession re-emits the cookie when the user has a persisted locale
but the cookie is absent (absent-only, so a mid-switch cookie is
never reverted before the PUT lands).
Users who never chose a language stay on Accept-Language.
Wire the two new screening totals through the read surfaces on the
PHQ-9 / GAD-7 precedent: signal-registry entries (higher-better
direction, off the Coach snapshot and MCP by construction, no FHIR
coding attached — neither total has a verified LOINC, and the export
skips uncoded signals rather than shipping an invented code), the
scores category cluster, list labels/icons/colours, the generic
insight-chart tokens, a null PR direction (screeners are never
gamified), and the module-gated mental-health section of the doctor
report. The vitals-table exclusion rationale is documented alongside
the existing screener entries.
Two new self-report instruments join the mental-wellbeing engine on the
existing PHQ-9 / GAD-7 infrastructure:
- WHO-5 Well-Being Index: 5 items on the 6-point 5..0 scale over the last
two weeks; the reported total is raw-sum x 4 (0-100) per the official
WHO scoring (WHO/UCN/MSD/MHE/2024.1, CC BY-NC-SA 3.0 IGO). A total of
50 or below follows the WHO comment (below 50 = indication for further
assessment).
- Sleep Condition Indicator: 8 DSM-5-aligned items, 0-4 each with
item-specific anchors, total 0-32, higher = better sleep; a total of
16 or below maps to the probable-insomnia range of the source
publication (Espie et al., BMJ Open 2014;4:e004183, CC BY-NC,
(c) Sleepio Limited).
The instrument registry generalises rather than forking: per-item answer
ceilings, option order/label schemes, recall-stem captions, a reported-
score multiplier, score direction (higher-is-better inverts the follow-up
threshold), per-instrument attribution lines, and the validated-item
locale set are now instrument properties. Scoring stays server-
authoritative; the create route validates the per-instrument answer
ceiling and projects the total onto a COMPUTED WHO5_SCORE / SCI_SCORE
measurement row (never client-attributable), which also auto-satisfies a
planned screening reminder. Migration 0226 adds the enum values
(additive, idempotent). OpenAPI regenerated.
Neither instrument carries a self-harm item; the PHQ-9 item-9 crisis
routing is unchanged.
The Coach has extracted goal / if-then plan proposals since v1.21.3 —
written as status "proposed", never activated without the user — but no
surface ever showed them, so nothing could be confirmed and the active-plan
memory block stayed permanently empty. This lands the missing user half:
- Chat thread: proposal confirm cards at the tail of the open conversation
(proposals land asynchronously via the post-turn memory-refresh worker,
so the block slow-polls the proposed list while the thread is mounted and
only shows proposals born in that conversation). Accept activates the
plan — it enters the Coach's snapshot memory from the next turn on;
decline soft-deletes the proposal so it never activates and stops
counting against the per-user cap. A settled card collapses to a
one-line confirmation.
- /coach/plans: the management ledger, a sibling of /coach/conversations
reachable from the composer's + menu. Groups proposals (confirm /
decline), standing plans (goal met / end), and the settled history
(remove). No prose editor by design — the extractor is the only writer
of plan text and the PATCH contract only moves the lifecycle.
- Shared use-coach-plans hook + centralised coach-plans query keys, so the
thread cards and the page invalidate each other's reads.
- Both coach-gate invariants (operator master flag, per-user opt-out)
register the new page; i18n keys land in all six locales.
SSR tests pin the card contract: only same-conversation proposals render,
undecryptable rows are skipped, both actions are real buttons.
Groundwork for the plan confirm/manage UI. The CoachPlan pipeline has been
complete on the server since v1.21.3/v1.22 — extractor writes proposals
(status "proposed", per-user cap, de-dup, encrypted prose), the PATCH
confirms proposed -> active, buildCoachPlansBlock injects the top-6 active
plans into the snapshot, and the review sweep drives the reviewDate
lifecycle — but no surface ever listed or confirmed a proposal, so the
extraction spend had no user-visible outcome.
Two additive contract changes the UI needs:
- GET /api/coach/plans accepts ?scope=open|past|all (open = proposed +
active + review_due, past = met + abandoned + reviewed, all = no status
clause) so the management page reads its ledger in one round-trip.
Mutually exclusive with ?status=; both omitted keeps today's
non-terminal default unchanged.
- Plan items now carry sourceConversationId so the chat thread can show
only the proposals born in the open conversation.
OpenAPI regenerated; route tests cover the scope mappings, the
status+scope 422, and the provenance passthrough.
The briefing spotlight carried a separate underlined 'open Insights'
text link that thickened the card; every signal row below already
deep-links. Drop it and make the Tagesbriefing heading itself the link
— quiet, no underline, hover lift only — targeting the briefing card
directly via a new #daily-briefing anchor on the insights section
(scroll-mt-28, the app-wide offset token).
After the broad Insights button left the hero, the scoreDrop and
briefing verdict sentences were dead ends. Link-CTA verdicts without a
button label now make the sentence itself clickable (same quiet
treatment): scoreDrop routes to /insights, the briefing sentence
deep-links to the picked finding's metric sub-page via the METRIC_HREF
map (fallback /insights). Verdicts with their own action keep their
button.
The MED_COMPLIANCE hero ring carried the pooled 7-day adherence
percentage — a mystery number next to today-focused scores. It now
answers the question the hero poses: how many of today's doses are
done. The resolver reads takenToday/scheduledToday off the snapshot's
own medsToday block (one shared builder call, no second tally); score
stays the rounded 0..100 progress for wire compatibility and a new
additive doses field carries the taken/scheduled pair. No dose
scheduled today means no ring, and the band is progress semantics —
green once everything is taken, yellow while doses remain, never red
(a pending morning dose is not an alert state).
The web ring renders the tally (1/3) with a doses label over the ring
system's constant green arc — the same green family the compliance
surfaces in Insights paint — instead of a band gradient; the derived
rings keep their exact insights hues. ScoreRing gains documented
valueText/ariaLabel overrides for tally-shaped centres. OpenAPI
regenerated; labels land in all six locales.
The structured Allergy / FamilyHistoryEntry stores reached FHIR export
only: the doctor-report PDF shipped without the two sections every
clinical intake asks for first, and the Coach knew allergies only from
the free-text answer — a penicillin allergy recorded in the structured
records UI never reached either surface.
Doctor report: two new section toggles (allergies, familyHistory; both
default ON, same stance as labs) across the prefs schema, the export
selection, the aggregator, the PDF renderer, and the export panel. The
tables render stored fields only — substance/category/kind/severity/
reaction/status and relationship/condition/age-at-onset; the reaction
decrypts fail-soft per row and free-text notes are never read, matching
the illness-journal stance. OpenAPI regenerated for the extended
sections shape.
Coach: the about-me context block now appends the structured rows as
clearly labelled entries (authoritative over the free-text answer on
conflict); the projection is a pure composer with unit tests. New
section labels land in all six locales.
The Vorsorge card resolves both rules at once: the action button keeps
its constant look in every state (v1.27.5), and a screening reminder's
action reads 'start the check-in' instead of the numeric measure
wording (this wave).
Resolve the selected rings server-side and publish them as scoreRings
on the dashboard snapshot (additive, optional for cached payloads).
READINESS, RECOVERY_SCORE and SLEEP_SCORE go through the same
computeDerivedMetric dispatcher the derived batch route calls, with the
profile loaded once via the shared loader; MED_COMPLIANCE pools the
7-day adherence across active non-PRN medications through the canonical
compliance engine (taken over taken-plus-missed, skips out of the
denominator) and bands on the targets-tile thresholds. Rings gate on
their owning module plus the insights gate for the derived trio, drop
out when no data backs them, and resolve fail-soft per ring so a
throwing engine never sinks the snapshot. OpenAPI regenerated.
Add selectedScoreRings to the dashboard layout blob: a closed four-id
set (READINESS, RECOVERY_SCORE, SLEEP_SCORE, MED_COMPLIANCE) capped at
three rings, with a client-safe ring-to-module map alongside. The
resolver drops unknown ids, dedupes, and clamps; a legacy blob without
the field defaults to the single MED_COMPLIANCE ring while an explicit
empty array is respected. The widgets PUT validates the field against
the closed enum and preserves the stored value when a client omits it,
the same contract heroVisible already rides.
PUT /api/measurements/[id] was the one write surface that skipped the
per-type plausibility bands — POST, batch, CSV import, Apple export,
Telegram and MCP all enforce VALUE_RANGES — so an implausible edited
value flowed unchecked into rollups, the health score, the BP gates
and the Coach snapshot. The route now validates the new value against
the row's own type after the lookup and returns the standard
multi-issue 422 envelope on violation.
Value edits on server-owned sources (anything outside
WRITABLE_MEASUREMENT_SOURCES: connector, import, computed rows) are
refused with 409 and the stable errorCode
measurement.update.server_owned_source — editing a provider-attributed
number forges a reading the server never received. Timestamp and note
edits stay allowed, and the edit sheet shows a localised message for
the new code.
The schema's generic min(0).max(500000) bound is dropped: the per-type
band is stricter where it matters, and min(0) blocked legitimate edits
of the signed types (ANS_CHARGE, BODY_TEMPERATURE_DEVIATION). Route
tests cover out-of-range 422, negative signed-type accept, the
server-owned 409, a timestamp-only edit on a server-owned row, and the
happy path. The PUT endpoint is not part of the published OpenAPI
surface — the generated contract is unchanged.
PHQ9_SCORE / GAD7_SCORE join the Vorsorge reminder type allow-list as
their own "Seelisches Wohlbefinden" group, with a 4-week default
cadence (both instruments cover the last two weeks; 28 joins the
interval presets). The reminders ride the existing activity-aware
engine unchanged: they fire only when overdue, and a completed check-in
auto-satisfies them — the assessment route now kicks the eventful
reminder-satisfy worker, which resolves against the server-written
score row; the 15-min cron stays the idempotent safety-net. The
screening reminder's primary action opens the check-in page (a score is
never typed in), and the dispatcher gates the reminder on the opt-in
mental-health module so a disabled module never nags. OpenAPI spec
regenerated for the widened MeasurementReminderType enum.
The shared formatting contract asks every narrative surface for short
blank-line paragraphs, but two field-level instructions overrode it:
the assessment OUTPUT FORMAT pinned 'flowing prose (2-4 sentences)'
and the briefing paragraph asked for 'a connected 70-160 word read' —
so both consistently arrived as one unbroken block regardless of the
contract. Both now spell out 1-3 short paragraphs separated by a
blank line written as \n\n inside the JSON string.
The recovery detail page rendered only the ring — the one wellness
score without a composition view, although the COMPUTED score IS the
readiness blend persisted nightly. The wellness-score read now attaches
the blend's per-factor sub-scores (RHR, HRV, sleep, respiratory rate,
mood stability — same engine, same weights, resolved server-side on the
same request) when the canonical latest row is the COMPUTED proxy, and
the anatomy view renders them through the identical ranked contributor
rows the readiness and sleep-score composites use, reusing their
labels. A WHOOP-native percentage is not our blend, so it keeps the
row-less presentation; a gated blend simply omits the breakdown. The
new value field is optional and additive — existing clients decode
unchanged.
Each completed PHQ-9 / GAD-7 administration already projects its total
onto a PHQ9_SCORE / GAD7_SCORE measurement row (unit score, linked via
externalId assessment:<id>). Those rows were attributed MANUAL — a
client-writable source. The projection is a server-derived value, so it
now writes source COMPUTED, the same server-owned source RECOVERY_SCORE
uses: no client write surface can attribute COMPUTED, so a forged score
trend point cannot enter through the measurement POST. Migration 0225
re-attributes the existing assessment-linked projection rows; a score a
user typed into the generic measurement form keeps MANUAL. OpenAPI
description updated and the spec regenerated.
The previous notes carried two wrong premises: that every launch type
supports dataPoints.list, and that the response payload is snake_case.
Document the three per-type encodings (kebab path, snake_case filter,
camelCase payload union), the int64-as-string fields, the per-shape
filter grammar, the dailyRollUp read for the cumulative activity types,
the corrected daily-* data-type ids, the sleep end-time filter, the
exercise metricsSummary payload, the AIP-193 error surfacing and the
structure probe.
- On a non-2xx data-point response, extract the AIP-193 error envelope
into a redacted STATUS: message detail (bearer tokens stripped, URL
query strings dropped, 200-char cap) and thread it into the thrown
GoogleHealthApiError plus the external-call annotation, so a
field-grammar 400 is diagnosable from operator logs. The OAuth token
endpoint keeps its flat invalid_grant handling.
- POST /api/integrations/google-health/test with {"probe":"structure"}
now fetches one recent page/window per data type and returns only the
payload STRUCTURE (field names + typeof leaves, never values) plus the
per-type error verdict — paste-safe diagnostics for payload-shape
drift. Same auth and rate limit as the plain connection check.
The v4 client read none of its documented response shapes: the DataPoint
value is a camelCase union keyed by the camelCase type name with camelCase
nested times, proto3 int64 fields arrive as JSON strings, and four fetchers
targeted wrong data types or illegal filter fields. Every HTTP-200 type
parsed zero measurements and four fetchers returned HTTP 400.
- Read every value/time path in camelCase; keep snake_case only inside the
filter parameter. Pin path/filter/payload-key triples per data type.
- Coerce int64 JSON strings in every numeric extractor.
- weight.weightGrams -> kg, height.heightMeters -> cm,
distance millimetres -> m, bodyFat.percentage, heartRate.beatsPerMinute.
- Move SpO2, HRV, respiratory rate and VO2 max to their daily-* data types
(the bare sample types reject a .date filter).
- Move steps, distance, active energy and floors to POST :dailyRollUp with
windowSizeDays 1 (list returns minute-grain buckets, not daily totals;
floors has no list method), chunked at 90 civil days, day-keyed on
civilStartTime.date at the UTC-midday anchor.
- Filter sleep on interval.end_time (the only legal sleep time field) and
anchor sessions on interval.endTime; filter exercise on
interval.civil_start_time with an offset-less civil bound in the user's
zone; read exercise metrics from metricsSummary and take the workout id
from the DataPoint name.
- Seed height from max(sampleTime) explicitly - list order is descending,
so last-row-wins picked the oldest sample.
- Rewrite the mapper fixtures to the documented shapes.
When the corrective grounding retry dies on transport (provider outage,
timeout) the model never got its chance to self-correct — stripping the
briefing to null left the morning surface empty. The strip now falls
back to the previous payload's briefing, which passed this same gate
when it was written; a content-failed retry still strips hard so a
fabricated number never persists.
The shared contract banned every structure beyond 1-3 paragraphs, so
longer replies read as unformatted blocks. It now asks for short
blank-line paragraphs (2-4 on longer replies), permits a plain "- "
list when a reply genuinely enumerates three or more parallel items,
and one bold key takeaway per reply. The Coach ground rule keeps
prose-first; a list is the exception, never the default shape.
Reconciles the v1.26.1 Fitbit setup-guide fix with the Google Health
release: google-health.md stays the full runbook (with a pointer to the
classic fitbit.md guide), the doc-parity guard now asserts the Google
Health page against the google-health client's endpoints and scopes,
and the changelog carries both sections.
Tighten the transport so device data lands on the right day and in the
right slot.
- Cumulative daily totals (steps, distance, energy, floors) now key their
measuredAt and stats:<tag>:<day> external id off the interval's civil
start date anchored at UTC-midday, not the physical instant. Keying off
the physical instant put a positive-UTC-offset user's day one calendar
day early and split the same local day across the Google, Apple, and
Fitbit sources so neither won the per-day source pick.
- Thread the user's timezone through the sleep, workout, and interval
parses so an offset-less wall-clock timestamp resolves in the user's
zone rather than the process zone — the same fix the classic Fitbit
sleep path already carries.
- Drop skin temperature from the launch set. Google reports a signed
nightly deviation from baseline, not an absolute reading, so mapping it
into the absolute wrist-temperature slot stored a delta as a
temperature and dropped every cold-night negative. It returns once a
signed-delta model exists.
- Remove the unused daily-rollup read path and field-map, and the
experimental ECG and irregular-rhythm scopes that had no reader — the
connect flow now requests exactly the four core scopes it uses.
Surface the Google Health integration to the operator and document the
setup honestly.
- A settings card matching the other integration cards: the BYO Google
client id and secret form, connect and disconnect, a manual sync, and
a distinct reconnect prompt when the connection needs fresh consent.
- Register the card in the connections panel and extend the integration
key, the docs-link provider, and the query-key factory.
- Translations for the card copy across all six locales. The copy states
plainly that this reads Fitbit, Pixel Watch, and Fitbit Air through the
user's Google account, that it succeeds the Fitbit connection Google
retires in September 2026, that the operator registers their own Google
client, that stress and readiness are not available, and that a
periodic reconnect may be needed.
- Rewrite the Google Health runbook into the real setup: a Google Cloud
project, the Health API, an OAuth consent screen kept in Testing, a
Web Server client, the callback redirect, the four Restricted scopes,
the hundred-test-user ceiling, and the reconnect caveat.
- Regenerate the OpenAPI contract for the new measurement source.
Add the request surface and the background sync for the Google Health
provider, all built on the shared integration plumbing.
- Routes under /api/google-health: connect (mint the PKCE pair and state
nonce, redirect to Google), callback (timing-safe CSRF, atomic state
consume, token exchange, connection upsert, clear the reauth flag,
enqueue backfill), credentials (encrypt the operator's BYO client id
and secret field-by-field), disconnect, status, and a rate-limited
manual sync.
- Jobs: a boot-time backfill, an hourly poll cohort, and a daily
oauth-state cleanup, registered under the existing dead-queue contract.
- Rank GOOGLE_HEALTH just after Fitbit in the per-metric source ladders;
it is the successor API for the same devices.
- Add GOOGLE_HEALTH to the readable measurement-source enum but leave it
out of the writable set — the provider is server-owned, so a client
cannot attribute a write to it.
- Register the two new encrypted token columns and the two BYO-client
columns in the encryption-rotation registry and the rotation script.
Add the transport that reads a user's device data from the Google Health
API (health.googleapis.com/v4): Google OAuth with PKCE and offline
access, the paginated dataPoints reader with a daily-rollup fallback for
the types that lack a list method, the metric/activity/sleep/workout
mappers onto the shared measurement shape, and a response classifier
that separates retryable errors, hard rejects, and the re-consent case.
Access tokens live an hour and refresh tokens are reused, not rotated. A
refresh that comes back invalid_grant raises a distinct reauth-required
signal so the app can prompt a fresh consent rather than fail silently —
the periodic re-consent a Testing-mode Google client needs. The four
core readonly scopes ship by default; the Pixel Watch ECG and
irregular-rhythm scopes stay behind an opt-in flag.
Only the transport is new: the mapped-measurement output, the
upsert/dedup/rollup tail, and the source ladders are the shared ones.
The Fitbit integration connects through the classic Fitbit Web API, so a
self-hoster registers a Fitbit developer app at dev.fitbit.com — but the
setup guide walked users through creating a Google Cloud OAuth client,
whose client id the Fitbit sign-in rejects (unauthorized_client). Rewrite
the guide for the dev.fitbit.com flow (app type, HTTPS callback, scopes,
PKCE), leave the old page as a pointer, and add a test that keeps the
documented scopes and endpoints in sync with the client so the guide
cannot drift from the code again. Flags the September 2026 sunset of the
classic Fitbit Web API.
A transient database fault during logout must still clear the session
cookie; record the delete failure on the wide event instead of throwing
before the cookie is cleared, so a user can never stay authenticated
after logging out. Remove the batch measurement future/past instant
refine: cumulative HealthKit rows carry an end-of-day endDate that is
legitimately hours ahead for the current day, and a whole-array parse
would 422 the entire sync. Note the workout batch's deferred Withings
path must write its source directly.
The Coach adherence storyline derived its rate from the raw coverage
rollup, whose denominator counts logged slots rather than scheduled
doses, so a user who logged only taken doses read ~100% and the dip gate
suppressed a real decline. Extract the dashboard tile's schedule-anchored,
cadence-aware compliance into one shared engine and route both surfaces
through it, so Coach and the dashboard report the same number.
The week/month/year rollup read anchored on now and always returned the
trailing window, so a historic from/to range (API and iOS callers) came
back with buckets outside the requested span. Thread the resolved from/to
bounds through so the read is bounded on both ends, matching the day-tier
and live-SQL fallback contract; tier selection is unchanged.
The incident forwarder stripped the query string but not path-segment
secrets from the reported URL; route it through the same redaction the
message and stack already use. Several delete-and-swallow paths caught
every error as the expected unique/absent-row case, masking real
failures on security-notification, logout, and integration-disconnect
paths and the Telegram reply-consume guard; narrow each to the specific
Prisma code and let real failures surface.
Narrow the workout create schema's source to the client-writable set
(MANUAL, APPLE_HEALTH), matching the measurement write surfaces, so a
client cannot forge a server-owned source into the cross-source picker.
Apply the single-entry plausibility bound to the measurement batch
timestamps so a backdated or future-dated row can no longer slip past
the batch path. Regenerate the OpenAPI contract.
Reference-band fills, classification tones, and the trend-chart palette
carried hardcoded hex that rendered identically in both themes and
glared on the light surface. Route them through the semantic and chart
CSS variables, which already hold per-theme values, so the light theme
gets the muted set and the dark theme stays byte-identical.
The daily-briefing number-grounding gate strips the whole dailyBriefing block
to null when it finds a restated figure it cannot trace to a pre-computed
server value. Its allow-set covered signalsOfDay plus the glucose / labs /
preventive-care / workout / grip / waist / pain aggregates, but omitted the
core vitals blocks — weight, blood pressure, pulse, body fat, mood, sleep,
activity, rate-pressure product, seasonal variation, historical comparison —
even though the briefing prompt is fed all of them.
A verdict-first briefing that restated a blood-pressure average or a resting
pulse (figures every BP-tracking user has) therefore tripped the gate on every
run: one ungrounded number strips the entire briefing while the rest of the
insight refreshes, so the surface reads as "every other text updated, only the
briefing is gone".
Admit every figure the server pre-computes for those blocks into the allow-set.
The anti-fabrication guarantee is unchanged — only server-computed numbers are
ever added, so a genuinely invented value is still flagged and stripped.
