From 1280 px the day and, on /coach, the conversations each keep a
narrow strip at the right edge, open or not. A click on the strip opens
its panel left of the strips and a second click closes it; the strip
never moves. Strips start below the top bar's band, side by side,
conversations first. Below 1600 px one panel is open at a time.
The day slides like the conversations (width, 200 ms, none under reduced
motion), stays open through a page change instead of folding and
reopening, and does not slide in on arrival. Its content loads when a day
first opens, so the scores, sections and calendar leave the shell's first
load: every watched route falls back under its unchanged ceiling. The
aggregate cap is re-measured for the chunk double count this causes.
Measured 4386 KB gz on the release branch and 4446 with every chart drawn
in days opening its day; the difference is the aggregate counting the
shared hook, data table and day link once per chart chunk group. Every
eager route stays inside its allowance.
Land every file the day view, the timeline and life events share before
any of them is built, so the server, the day view and the timeline can be
built side by side without editing the same file (#613).
Schema and migration 0387: LifeEvent with a short category list, calendar
start and end dates, a day/month/year precision, encrypted title and note,
a soft-delete tombstone and an index for the per-user live list. Every new
column is annotated for the column-reader sweep. Life events travel in both
backup purposes with their two ends in one file, are wiped with the
account, and are registered for key rotation.
src/lib/day/contract.ts carries the constants and wire types for
GET /api/day/{date}, /api/day/index, /api/timeline, /api/timeline/readiness
and the life-event routes, free of Zod so the navigation chrome can import
it; the schemas beside it feed the routes and the published contract. The
Coach and MCP tool name get_day is reserved there, and life events are
listed as the one section no model ever sees.
The opt-in timeline module, its navigation entry, the day-section and
timeline-lane surfaces, the day and timeline query keys (evicted by every
record data bundle), and stub routes that answer 501 behind their
admissions. The four cross-section reads declare the whole record for now;
the life-event list is a profile read, and life events join the profile
sharing domain and its consent copy in all seven locales. The day,
timeline and lifeEvents message namespaces carry their base copy as
release-pending keys.
The aggregate bundle cap moves to 4400: the branch already measured 4365
against 4335, and the new copy adds 10 KB.
- Load each settings section on its own: the section route imported all
twenty-one statically. A preload starts the chunk beside the record
gate's read, and the loading state paints the settings card shell.
/settings/[section] goes from 611 to 403 KB gz.
- Take Zod out of the shell every route shares: the account-access parse
run on each boot is plain TypeScript now, held to the published schema
by an equivalence test over good and broken blocks. The canonical unit
table moves to its own module, so the display transform no longer
pulls Zod in either. Layout entry 199 to 136 KB gz; /insights 369 to
304, /medications 428 to 365, /labs 400 to 337.
- Open a saved Coach conversation at its last answer: an instant jump
instead of the smooth scroll that lost the end, then follow late
layout (charts, tables) for a few seconds until the reader scrolls.
- Show the document archive as a month grid of preview tiles, two
across on a phone and three or four on a desktop, with the month
headings kept.
- Add the admin card for the measurement table maintenance: a status
read on the maintenance route, one calm confirmation, and the run's
state while it is queued, running, finished or stopped.
- Re-base the bundle budget: /insights at 304, /settings/[section]
watched at 403, aggregate cap 4335 with the reason written down.
Land every file the v1.42 work shares before any of it is built, so the
parts built side by side never edit the same file.
Schema and migrations 0379-0386: the HEALTH_CONNECT measurement source,
ImportJob.kind, the air-quality columns and the per-user switch on the
environment tables, sealed environment locations with nullable plaintext,
managed-profile handover links, the per-type HealthKit arrival ledger, lab
unit-conversion provenance, and user-defined vaccines. Every new column is
annotated for the column-reader sweep.
HEALTH_CONNECT reaches every exhaustive list: the source labels, the
read enum (not the write allowlist), the source-priority ladder cap, now
the number of sources rather than a fixed eight, and the write-path smoke
test. RMSSD gets its own priority class and a 300 ms ceiling. The batch
syncTrigger gains `manual`, with its label on the Apple Health card.
Queues for the Health Connect import, the compaction-tombstone purge and
the measurement-table maintenance are registered with stub handlers;
host-metric sampling moves to every five minutes. Environment and work_mem
variables reach the compose whitelist, the production example and the
manifest. The proxy admits the handover link and redirects it at the edge,
and the Health Connect upload bypasses the proxy body limit.
The new routes answer 501 behind their final authentication and are
published in the contract; backup, wipe and key rotation classify the new
models and columns; the seven message bundles carry the base copy. Guards
that list release-pending keys and columns fail once an entry is wired, so
those lists empty themselves before the tag.
Also re-anchor a login-throttle fixture to the wall clock, where its
expiry is compared, and re-base the aggregate bundle cap on a measured
12 KB of new locale strings.
Main measured 3718 KB gz after v1.39.7 and v1.39.8, almost all of it new
copy in the seven lazy locale catalogs; the workout form, its sheet, the
delete action and their copy add about 7 KB (3725). The cap moves from
3724 to 3749, the same 24 KB headroom as before; the eager routes stay
inside their drift allowances.
Refs #1085
The release branch alone measured 3699 KB gz against the 3700 cap; the
review fixes added 1.3 KB gz across the whole build, nearly all of it new
copy in the seven lazy locale catalogs. The four eager routes measured
the same on both builds and stay inside their ceilings. The aggregate cap
moves to 3724, the same headroom as the earlier re-measurements.
Three of the four watched routes sat within a kilobyte of their ceiling —
444 of 445, 459 of 460, 459 of 460 — because the numbers had been re-stated
for four releases and never re-based. A budget a route is already touching
does not measure the route; it measures whichever dependency bump landed that
week. e2e run 34043772954 failed on `/insights/page: 445 KB gz exceeds the
445 KB budget` with nothing in the diff that touched the bundle, and it was one
of at least four e2e failures that were the budget gate rather than a test.
The file states the measured value per route now, plus one drift allowance over
it, and a route fails on the delta. Measured on a local build at d48bbff01:
/ 447, /insights 434, /measurements 433, /insights/mood 447, allowance 20 KB, so
the effective ceilings are 467 / 454 / 453 / 467 — a raise for all four. The
allowance covers the runner delta and ordinary week-to-week drift; the step
change the gate exists for, a statically imported catalog or a duplicated chart
library, is several times larger and still fails. Every run prints the delta, so
a route that has crept most of the way through its allowance is legible in the
log long before it is red. The reason and the re-base instructions are written
into the file's running note, as with every raise before it.
A budget file with no baselines used to gate nothing quietly, since the loop
had nothing to walk; it now refuses.
Gates, against the current build:
real baselines passed; /page +0.3, /insights +0.3,
/measurements +0.2, /insights/mood +0.3 KB
/page baseline 425 (cap 445), FAILED: "/page: 447 KB gz is 21.6 KB over the
/insights 413 (cap 433) 425 KB baseline, past the 20 KB drift
allowance (cap 445 KB)" and the same for
/insights/page, exit 1
routeBaselineKbGz removed exit 2, "states no routeBaselineKbGz entries,
so no route is gated"
Integrates @aucun6352's Korean locale (PR #839): the full catalog, the
NFC recompose in the shared fold, the Hangul lab-name normaliser, the
tilde range separator, and the officially published Korean PHQ-9, GAD-7
and WHO-5 wording. Resolves the CHANGELOG and OpenAPI conflicts against
the current trunk and regenerates the spec. Raises the aggregate bundle
budget to 3700 KB gz for the seventh message catalog, with the reasoning
recorded next to the value.
The contributor's three commits are preserved with their authorship.
The authenticated shell wraps every route and read one destination
predicate off the `@/lib/record-settings` barrel. That barrel also
re-exports the managed settings-patch schemas, so Zod, the module
registry and three validation modules rode into the eager client
bundle of every authenticated page for a function that inspects a URL
slug. The shell imports `record-settings/classification` now; the
barrel loses the re-export nobody else used.
Measured over all 585 client-rendered routes: none grew, 100 fell, by
4.7 KB gz at the median and 8.1 KB at the most. /insights had been
sitting on its 445 KB ceiling for three releases and went over it on
this branch's CI run; it measures 437 now, /measurements 435, / 450,
/insights/mood 450.
The whole-build sum moved the other way, 3451 to 3476, because the
aggregate counts each emitted chunk once: a graph that leaves the
chunk group every route shares gets counted again wherever it lands,
here inside the deferred settings chunks that use it. Bytes on disk
rose, bytes a reader downloads only fell. The aggregate cap moves to
3500 with the same 24 KB headroom the four earlier re-measurements
kept, and the reasoning sits next to the number.
The settling state's copy, the index-outcome plain-words line across
six locale catalogs and the reindex-count wiring take the whole-build
client sum to 3429 KB gzip, one kilobyte over the cap set at v1.37.4.
Every per-route ceiling stays met, so nothing a person downloads on a
given route grew beyond its ceiling; the aggregate cap moves to 3452
with the same margin as previous re-measurements.
Adding recoverable read-failure handling to thirteen surfaces and the MCP and
managed-record copy rewrites across six locales lifts the whole-build client
total to 3404 KB gz. Every per-route ceiling is still met; the aggregate cap
moves 3352 to 3428 with the same margin.
The /insights overview crept a kilobyte over its ceiling: the ECG
teaser imported its overview cap from the classification module, which
dragged that module's label map and helpers into the eager page, and
the Health Score card pulled the whole metric-provenance map for its
one citation. The cap now lives in a value-only module and the single
provenance entry is split out, so the overview imports the bare number
and citation it renders. Both routes are back under budget. The
aggregate ceiling rises to hold the six-locale copy the new encounter,
mood-context, mood-prognosis and practitioner surfaces added, which the
whole-build sum counts independently and no single route downloads.
CI died at the 4 GB default heap while checking types. The build was given its
own ceiling earlier this month so a local run, CI and the published image all
invoke it the same way; the type check was left on the default and has now grown
past it. Same treatment, same reason.
Also raises the aggregate bundle cap from 3260 to 3310 KB, and only that one.
Every per-route ceiling is untouched and every measured route sits within a
kilobyte of its previous value, so nothing a person downloads grew. The rise is
the new score-settings route, a mutually exclusive chunk that the whole-build sum
counts even though no single visit pays for it, plus its strings across six
locales. The reasoning is recorded in the budget file beside the number.
The measured first-load gap on / was never the server: FCP painted the
SSR shell at ~1.8 s but LCP landed at ~5.5 s (mobile-throttled) because
the tiles waited for JS download + hydrate + a CLIENT-side snapshot
fetch — while /api/dashboard/snapshot answers in ~8 ms server-side.
src/app/page.tsx is now a thin RSC wrapper: it runs the same cached
snapshot read the API route uses (extracted to
src/lib/dashboard/snapshot-read.ts, one shared SWR cell for both
readers) and hands the result to TanStack via HydrationBoundary +
dehydrate, so the first HTML carries real tile data and the mounted
cell starts warm (staleTime 60 s, refetchOnMount false — no double
fetch). Query keys come only from the central factory
(dashboardSnapshot(locale) + the dashboardWidgets seed the client cell
already performs); the payload is JSON-round-tripped so the hydrated
shape is byte-equal to the wire shape. Fail-soft: no session or any
builder error renders the page exactly as before. The 1,727-line client
page moves unchanged to src/app/page-client.tsx; no component-tree
rewrite.
Companion: the documented bundle tooling was dead on Turbopack
(ANALYZE=1 silent no-op, bundle-report read a webpack-only JSON), so
H2/H3-class regressions shipped invisibly. scripts/check-bundle-budget.mjs
derives per-route gzip totals from the Turbopack client-reference
manifests + rootMainFiles, prints the report (pnpm bundle-report), and
enforces bundle-budget.json (pnpm bundle-check): per-route caps,
total-client-JS cap, a recharts-duplication guard (fingerprint count
must stay 1), and a catalog guard (no message catalog referenced by any
route manifest). Wired into the existing e2e workflow after next build.
