Marc-André Bombeck 3e6a33df35 fix(i18n): one sentence each for the read-failure lines
The ended-session and spent-budget lines each ran to two sentences; the
action sits on the button, so each is one sentence now. The sign-in
label's key is common.signIn, matching what it says. The French strings
added in this release use vous like the rest of the bundle, and the
Korean sleep-score gap labels take the polite form the bundle uses.

Marc-André Bombeck 985372f711 fix(insights): count failed fetches toward a bounded poll's ceiling
The status and advisor polls counted attempts on dataUpdateCount, which a
failed fetch does not move, while the last good payload stayed in place and
still said preparing. A request that kept failing polled an open page for
as long as it stayed open. Attempts now include the failed fetches.

The poll inventory moves from a comment into a guard held to every
refetchInterval in the tree; four polls were missing from the comment.

Marc-André Bombeck fea1d1e0b5 chore: strip planning tags from comments and enable the rule
Output of `node scripts/strip-planning-tags.mjs --write`: 3,157 comment
lines in 1,308 files lose the work-item identifier at their head. Release
versions and issue references stay; nothing outside comment text
changes, which the script checks per file against a comment-free
printout. healthlog/no-planning-tags is enabled at error level with this
commit, so the tree it lands on is clean.

Marc-André Bombeck 3cf67d05f9 fix(ui): let the read-failure primitives decide by the error
About forty compact rows and seventy cards still offered a retry on a
spent read budget and drew an error card on a refusal, while a third
primitive (ReadFailureRow) did the right thing at eight places.

QueryErrorRow and QueryErrorCard now take the query's `error` and read
it through readFailureKind, which moves to src/lib/api next to
ApiError: a refusal (403) draws the surface's refused state or nothing,
a spent budget (429) says so without a retry, an ended session (401)
says so and offers sign-in instead of going blank, and only a real
failure offers the retry. ReadFailureRow is gone and every site passes
its error; a guard test fails on a site that does not.

The coach read strip keeps its card in the error state and holds one
body height across loading, failure and a one-line read.

Marc-André Bombeck e2b7e7350e fix(consent): mint AI consent receipts only on an explicit agreement
The AI settings page posted to /api/consent/ai/web on every mount and the
server minted an ai_full receipt for it, so an account that had agreed to
nothing sent its health data to the operator's provider from background
jobs. Native builds synced a receipt the same way on every launch.

- Both grant routes now require `confirm: true`; anything else writes
  nothing and answers 400 consent.ai.confirmRequired.
- Remove the mount-time heal. A consent card names the operator's service
and the data that would go there, with one Agree button, in Settings > AI
and on the Insights overview while AI is closed by the missing consent
  alone.
- Publish the standing consent as `ai.consent` on /api/auth/me (status,
since, recipients); the settings card renders active-since and the
  withdraw control from it.
- Existing receipts stay valid.
- Guard that no client grants outside a click handler, route tests for the
confirmation, and an integration test that a fresh operator-key account
gets no background AI text until it agrees.

Marc-André Bombeck 6f673a7b84 feat(ai): resolve an AI usage level per record and publish it as ai.usage
Three levels (frugal, standard, full) with an operator ceiling and default
and a per-account choice within them, resolved in the capability layer for
the record and published on GET /api/auth/me as ai.usage: the level in
effect, the stored choice, the bounds, why (user, default, admin_cap), the
three options with whether each is allowed and an estimate of tokens per
day scaled from the record's last seven full days of coach_usage, and the
measured mean. A delegate sees the level, never the owner's spend.

PUT /api/auth/me/ai-usage stores the account's own choice or null for the
default, refusing a level above the ceiling with 422 ai.usage.aboveCeiling
and meta.maxLevel. The new supplementLabel capability needs standard or
above; below it the capability is unavailable with the new usage_level
reason, refused with 403 ai.usage.levelTooLow and meta.requiredLevel.

Marc-André Bombeck 715b733164 feat(shell): add a command palette for pages, settings, modules and actions
Cmd/Ctrl+K or the search control at the end of the top bar opens a
combobox over a client-side index built from the lists the navigation
already renders: pages, Insights pages, every Settings section and card
(deep-linked by a new anchor prop on SettingsCardHeader), the Appearance
sub-pages, module switches and a few actions. Entries follow the module
map, the Coach capability, the admin role and a shared record's grant;
inside somebody else's record no cards, switches or backup are offered.

Ranking is prefix, then word start, then substring, then a small edit
distance, then subsequence, with a short multilingual synonym list. The
empty state shows recent places (per account, in localStorage) and the
main actions. The palette is its own lazily loaded chunk; the top bar
shows a search field where it has room and a magnifier otherwise. The
module switch mutation moves into a shared hook used by the Modules hub
and the palette.

Marc-André Bombeck 08f532b428 feat(coach): New conversation in the chat, a foldable list, and the day beside it
New conversation leaves the conversations panel's header and floats in
the conversation itself: a round 56 px button with a plus, the floating
Coach button's face, named "New conversation". It sits in the composer's
row, so it always belongs to the chat column, never to the list or a
docked day beside it. Where the column is wide it takes the bottom right
corner beside the composer; where the composer fills the width (a phone,
the drawer, a narrow column) it rises above the composer's edge. The
drawer shows it once there is a conversation to leave, in place of the
plus in its header. An empty conversation shows nothing either way.

The docked conversations panel folds like the day: its header opens with
a fold control, and folded it keeps a 48 px edge whose button opens it
again (aria-expanded, focus moved between the two, Escape inside folds
it). The top bar's toggle remains for the sheet below 1280 px. On /coach
the day docks right of the panel. Below 1600 px only one of the two is
open: a day opening folds the list without touching the remembered
choice, and opening the list folds the day to its edge. From 1600 px both
stay open. Switching or starting a conversation keeps an open day in the
URL.

The empty conversation drops everything under the composer: the daily
seeded opener and the scope pill are gone, and with them the only reader
of GET /api/insights/coach/seeded-question and of the
coach.ambientSuggestions preference. The route, its OpenAPI entry, the
preference and its Settings switch go too.

Marc-André Bombeck 587ea35d34 fix(coach): bind the delete journal to the account and record it was sent for
A tab outlives a logout, another login and a switch into a managed
profile. A delete re-sent in another scope met a 404 that read as
"already gone" and dropped the entry, or tripped the record fence and
toasted a failure for a row the person could not see. Entries now carry
their owner, only the current owner's are re-sent, and a session end
clears the journal with the rest of the session state.

Marc-André Bombeck c3dff2c388 feat(day): collapse the docked day to an edge instead of closing it
From 1280 px the day sits beside the page, and its control at the top
left took it away entirely: after a page change there was no way back to
the day short of finding it again. The control now hides the day the way
a sidebar collapses. A narrow edge stays on the right, holding the date,
with a button that opens the last day again on this page or any other.
Focus lands on that button when the day collapses and on the day's
heading when it comes back.

The last open day is remembered per browser, bound to the account and
the record it was read in, and removed at every session end. The Coach
button keeps clear of the edge as it does of the open day. Sheets below
1280 px and on phones close as before, and Back still closes them.

Marc-André Bombeck 1a52384a1d Open stat strips on the chart's window instead of all time
The strip painted the all-time summary until the chart reported its
visible window, then swapped to it, so every number jumped a beat after
load. The chart now reports only once its read has settled (a failed
read settles too), and until then the strip holds its cells at their
final height.

Marc-André Bombeck 12e422c25e Lighten the client shell and finish four client surfaces
- Load each settings section on its own: the section route imported all
twenty-one statically. A preload starts the chunk beside the record
gate's read, and the loading state paints the settings card shell.
/settings/[section] goes from 611 to 403 KB gz.
- Take Zod out of the shell every route shares: the account-access parse
run on each boot is plain TypeScript now, held to the published schema
by an equivalence test over good and broken blocks. The canonical unit
table moves to its own module, so the display transform no longer
pulls Zod in either. Layout entry 199 to 136 KB gz; /insights 369 to
  304, /medications 428 to 365, /labs 400 to 337.
- Open a saved Coach conversation at its last answer: an instant jump
instead of the smooth scroll that lost the end, then follow late
layout (charts, tables) for a few seconds until the reader scrolls.
- Show the document archive as a month grid of preview tiles, two
across on a phone and three or four on a desktop, with the month
  headings kept.
- Add the admin card for the measurement table maintenance: a status
read on the maintenance route, one calm confirmation, and the run's
state while it is queued, running, finished or stopped.
- Re-base the bundle budget: /insights at 304, /settings/[section]
watched at 403, aggregate cap 4335 with the reason written down.

Marc-André Bombeck 2731c46399 feat(workouts): edit a hand-entered workout from its detail page
A workout logged by hand could only be deleted and logged again. The
detail page now offers an edit control beside delete for a MANUAL workout
carrying the form's `manual:` id, in one's own record. It opens the log
sheet on the stored values and saves by re-posting that id through
`POST /api/workouts/batch`, which already applies such a re-post as an
overwrite of that one row. No new route.

The overwrite nulls every overwritable column a re-post leaves out, and
the form has no fields for heart rate, steps, elevation or pauses. The
edit therefore sends those back as stored. A field left as shown sends the
stored value rather than one re-parsed from its display, so saving an
untouched edit keeps the start's seconds and a distance shown in miles at
its exact metres, and answers `duplicate`.

The detail read's `avgHr` / `maxHr` can come from a same-session twin;
the read now also serves the row's own `storedAvgHr` / `storedMaxHr`,
which is what the edit sends back.

Marc-André Bombeck 11bafd68b5 feat(coach): one quiet status line, reply pills and memory notes in the thread
The top of an answer is one line that says what the Coach is doing right
now (thinking, fetching a metric, summarising the readings, writing),
live from the activity frames, with the seconds so far. It never opens
by itself: the trail stays closed while the turn runs, when it asks,
when it stops early, after the answer and after a reload, and opens
only on a tap. Once the answer is in, the line settles into one summary
of lookups and seconds. A table read during the turn shows as a
one-line preview with a sparkline until the answer takes it over.

Clarifying choices, follow-ups and the answers to a fact or plan
proposal share one pattern: quiet pills in the answer's column whose
tap sends the label as the person's own message. The clarification
card and the in-thread plan card are gone. A fact the Coach kept is one
meta line with Undo, an assumption one line with Change. The remember
button on a message now keeps it in the Coach's memory.

Marc-André Bombeck df0689ffbe feat(auth): publish the resolved Coach reasoning on the account payload
GET /api/auth/me gains coachReasoning: the level a turn runs at, the
person's own pick, the highest level the settings may offer, whether
reasoning can run at all, whether the lowest option is a real off, and
the layer that decided. Resolved on the server so the web settings and
the native client read the same answer.

The web reads it through useCoachReasoning. The Coach preferences route
names the stored level on its wide event, and a unit test round-trips
the level through the account-settings backup section.

Marc-André Bombeck 12153fe143 feat(coach): move conversations into a collapsible right panel
The Coach page gets a conversations panel on the right of the thread. From
1280 px it docks beside the thread and slides open and shut; the reading
column keeps its width either way and only its centring moves. It is open
on a first visit and remembers the last choice per device. Below 1280 px it
is a sheet from the right. The toggle sits at the trailing edge of the top
bar, through a small page-owned slot the top bar now renders.

The panel lists every conversation grouped by recency, with a row menu to
rename in place (Enter saves, Escape cancels without closing the panel) and
delete with the existing undo toast. The undo window now survives the sheet
closing. New chat is the round button at the panel's bottom right, and
picking or starting a conversation keeps ?c= in the URL.

The gear in the panel header opens quick settings: a popover from md up, a
bottom sheet on a phone. It switches the answering provider (chain reordered
through the existing route), the model and reasoning level where the person
owns them, and shows what the Coach can see. Keys, the Codex sign-in and the
fallback chain stay in Settings > AI. The drawer's gear opens the same
overlay. The composer's + menu is gone.

Settings > Coach links to /coach?settings=data, which opens the overlay on
what the Coach can see instead of a rail that no longer exists.

Marc-André Bombeck 0acf3da575 feat(documents): read documents and lab scans in the background
"Read with AI" and the lab scan used to run their model calls inside the
request. At the default response time a read of three calls outlasted the
100 s a proxy in front of the server commonly allows, and the person saw a
cut connection for a read the server was still doing.

Both now run as a background run (`DocumentAiRun`, migration 0366):

- `POST /api/documents/inbound/{id}/index` with `Prefer: respond-async`
answers 202 with a run id once every quick refusal has passed. Without
the header it answers exactly as before, which the iPhone app relies on.
A second request while a read of the same document is queued or running
  attaches to that run.
- `POST /api/labs/ocr/extract` always answers 202. Only the web client
  calls it.
- `GET /api/ai-runs/{id}` serves the run: the same body the synchronous
route answers with, or the failure code and status it would have given.
Scoped to the caller; another account's run is a 404.

The worker (`document-ai-run`, a long queue with a one-hour expiry, one
job per run under `lockedPass`) claims the run, asks the capability again
for the record and re-checks the wire for the provider it picks, sets the
run's deadline from the person's AI response time and refuses a read that
cannot fit the job's expiry. Sync route and worker run one body per kind,
so the two paths cannot drift. Budget is reserved at enqueue and settled
once by whoever ends the run.

Input and result are sealed with labelled AES-256-GCM, registered for key
rotation; the input is dropped when the run ends. A five-minute reaper
fails a run no worker took within fifteen minutes (and hands its
reservation back), fails a run past its deadline, and deletes a finished
run after an hour. Runs are outside backups and inside the data wipe.

The web client polls through the query-key factory and says, calmly, that
the read continues in the background, and when no worker has picked it up.

Marc-André Bombeck 5ee1b3e28f fix(ai): run every model call under the response-timeout setting
The response-timeout setting reached the briefing, the status notes and
the Coach, which threaded it by hand. Document reads, document
extraction, lab OCR and lab staging called the provider without a
timeout, so every client fell back to its own 60 s literal and a slow
self-hosted model was cut off however high the setting stood.

The setting now rides on the provider instance. resolveProvider,
resolveProviderChain and resolveProviderForTest stamp the record's
aiResponseTimeoutSeconds on everything they return, and each wire
client reads its ceiling through callTimeoutMs: the setting, else the
surface's own timeoutMs, else 60 s. A call site no longer has to pass
it, so a new one cannot forget it. The connection test runs under the
same ceiling a read does.

The Coach nudge tick and the reaction line keep their short ceilings
(timeoutPolicy: "surface-ceiling"): the tick runs accounts one after
another under a shared budget, the reaction line's claim lease is
shorter than the largest setting, and both have deterministic copy
that stands in.

/api/auth/me publishes the effective value as
ai.provider.responseTimeoutMs, so a client can size its own request
timeout from it instead of guessing.

Marc-André Bombeck 801295f55a fix(dates): read date-only lab and document dates as calendar dates
A date-only value is stored at 12:00 UTC. The lab list and history, the
document cards and pickers, the document date suggestion, extracted
fact dates, source-picker rows and the compliance and mood heatmaps
formatted that instant in the reader's zone, which is the next day from
UTC+12 to UTC+14.

`useCalendarDate` formats such a value through the UTC-pinned calendar
formatter the vaccination list already uses, with the same field order
and locale as instant dates. Lab readings hold both kinds, so
`useLabDate` reads a noon-UTC anchor as its calendar date and a reading
typed with its time of day in the reader's zone. A document without a
filing date shows its upload day, an instant, in the reader's zone.

Marc-André Bombeck 5e21363e0f docs(comments): correct four comments that describe gates and mints that no longer exist
- /api/auth/me and the AuthUser type described disableCoach as the gate
every Coach surface checks below a flags.coach short-circuit. Neither has
been true since the AI capability resolution: it is the account's stored
  opt-out, and surfaces read ai.capabilities.coach or modules.coach.
- /api/mcp/tokens claimed /api/tokens mints medication:ingest; that mint was
removed, and the medication pair now comes from the per-medication
  endpoint toggle.
- /api/meta/capabilities listed the token kinds as wildcard, medication
ingest or MCP, missing measurements:write, workouts:write and
documents:write. Comment only: the served scopeMintable answer for the
FHIR face is unchanged and still right.

Marc-André Bombeck 70e6e07a89 refactor(units): resolve both unit preferences through one registry
Metric/imperial and the glucose unit were two separate lookups, so every
server-side text producer had to remember both and most remembered
neither. display-transform.ts now carries a glucose branch keyed by the
glucose preference (getReadingTransform), the metre-valued workout
quantities (distance, elevation, pace), and a resolver for the two
stored columns together. loadUnitPreferences reads them in one query and
useUnitDisplay hands the glucose unit out beside the metric/imperial
branch.

Marc-André Bombeck 9892088620 fix(coach): account for every stored table and keep table controls on screen
A withheld table now leaves a line saying why (module off, or the stored
tables could not be read) and a failed read shows an error row with a
retry, so the Data used count matches what is listed. A table copied from
an earlier answer names that answer's date under its title. The preview
shows the latest twelve periods of a time series, and the truncation note
says the latest rows are kept, which is what the server keeps. The title,
copy and view controls sit above the scrolling table with the title kept
as a hidden caption, and a reply with tables takes the full column width.

The step headers and the related-metric chip read as label: value in all
seven locales, so a metric name no longer sits capitalised mid-sentence.

Marc-André Bombeck 0598b58f0e feat(coach): client slots for steps, tables, method, chips and clarification
The streaming hook handles the step, result, followUps and clarification
frames and sends followUp and clarification on the tool route only. The
bubble gains slots for the step list, the tables and the method line; the
thread offers chips under the latest assistant turn only; the conversation
shows the clarification card above the composer and marks a typed answer
as answering it. The tables of a persisted message load lazily when it
scrolls into view, seeded from the stream for the turn that produced them.
The new components render nothing yet.

Marc-André Bombeck 645032ec97 fix(body-sites): skip the site suggestions read without the visits section
A delegate who may keep the illness journal but not read the visits
would be refused by GET /api/body-sites on every open of the condition

only when the grant covers the visits' section, and the condition page
shows the site as text rather than a link in that case.

Marc-André Bombeck 14f0fc4d4f feat(body-sites): record a body site on conditions and add a body-site view
A condition (illness episode) can carry where on the body it sits, in the
person's own words and encrypted at rest, plus an optional side (LEFT,
RIGHT, BOTH). Same enum, codec and reasoning as the procedure's site.

- migration 0354: two nullable columns on illness_episodes, reusing the
  laterality type from 0349
- create and edit accept bodySite and laterality; on PATCH an absent key
keeps the stored value, so an edit from the shipped iPhone app, which
never sends either field, leaves them untouched
- GET /api/body-sites: the sites the record holds across visits and
conditions, folded after the decrypt and bounded per kind; with site
(and laterality) the visits and conditions there, one hop to their
  documents, lab results and visits. Read in the profile section;
conditions only under an illness grant with the module on, and links
into ungranted sections come back as unlabelled placeholders
- the link service reads document and visit links from the condition's
end of the two existing tables
- /checkups gains a Body sites tab; the visit and condition forms share
one body-site field pair that suggests sites already used; a
condition's page links its site into the view
- the doctor report, the clinician page and the MCP doctor-visit summary
name the site on conditions; the Coach illness block carries it
sanitised, and MCP get_illness_recovery returns it fenced
- backup and restore carry both fields in both file kinds; the site is
registered as ciphertext and rotates with the key
- i18n in all seven locales, OpenAPI regenerated

A dose opened from the list carried no document links, since only the

local-OCR switch, a minted consent receipt, the admin's server key and
central Codex, and a guardian's save inside a managed record evicted only
their own reads. The surfaces stayed on the old answer until a reload.

All of these writes, and the ones that already refreshed the payload
(consent, modules, Hide Coach, the operator's switches), now evict one
bundle, aiInputDependentKeys. A structural test holds every client write
to those endpoints to it.

Marc-André Bombeck 5f6a0e42b4 refactor(web): retire the feature-flag reader for the capability map
The web no longer reads GET /api/feature-flags: useFeatureFlags and its
query key are gone, and use-ai-capability gains the two readers the Coach
pages and the operator notice need. A structural guard fails when web code
reads the retired projection, and when a module requests an AI route
without being registered with the capability that gates it.

Adds the copy for every new state in all seven locales and drops the
per-card no-provider strings.

Marc-André Bombeck 4449b34ac7 feat(documents): gate document, lab and medication reading on their capabilities
Reading a document, scanning a lab report and turning a medication
description into a schedule follow documentAi, labsOcr and
medicationExtract. Unavailable, the action is not offered. With only the
document-reading consent missing, the place that reads asks for it and
grants exactly that (ai_extraction), nothing wider.

Refusals are read by meta.errorCode: a 403 is no longer always called a
missing consent, and a spent daily budget no longer shows the rate-limit
sentence.

Marc-André Bombeck 48d97ef70d feat(insights): render AI parts from the capability map, never as errors
The daily briefing, the hero's briefing paragraph, the trend sentences and
the status notes follow the briefing and statusText capabilities: hidden
while unavailable, never an error card or a per-card "connect a provider"
state. The advisor and status reads only fire while their capability is
available; a 403 settles as an outcome instead of throwing.

A failed comprehensive read no longer replaces the overview, and every
overview section is fenced so a section that throws becomes one error row.
The period review always renders its composed narrative. Cycle, breathing
and lab-change sections go through the surface map. One calm setup hint
appears on the overview while no provider is configured and one could be.

Signals, rhythm events and the mood patterns card say a failed read with a
retry, the score anatomy no longer calls a failed read insufficient data,
the catalog marks only the rows whose read failed, and workouts are not
probed while the module is off.

Marc-André Bombeck 61d912627d feat(coach): follow the coach capability at every entry point
The floating button, the drawer, the launch pills, the nav entry and the
Coach pages read the coach capability from /api/auth/me instead of
combining the operator switch with Hide Coach on their own. A missing
provider or consent now hides the Coach too, instead of opening one that
can only answer with an error.

Stored conversations stay reachable: while the Coach is unavailable the
conversation list turns read-only, opens a transcript in place and keeps
delete. Refusals before the stream opens are read by meta.errorCode and
each code has its own copy.

Marc-André Bombeck 39ae034b8c fix(modules): route nav entries and module pages through the surface map
Navigation destinations, the bottom bar's fixed slots and the tour stops
no longer carry their own module keys; each asks the surface map by its
href. Insights has no owner there, so switching AI analysis off leaves
the Insights entry, slot and tour stop in place.

The shell's page gate now resolves Insights sub-pages by slug as well
as top-level pages, so /insights/mood, /insights/medications and the
recovery metric pages show the module notice when their module is off,
worded from the access reason, with the Settings link only for the
record's own switch. The per-page redirect guard, the achievements
redirect and the nutrients page's own notice are gone; nothing
redirects any more.

Marc-André Bombeck 91be6b2967 feat(modules): add one map from every surface to the module that owns it
SURFACE_MODULE names each surface a toggleable module owns (nav entries,
Insights pages, overview blocks, trend slots, add-menu entries, dashboard
widgets and summaries, derived scores, Settings sections, correlation
channels) as <kind>:<id>. isSurfaceVisible answers from it on the server
and in the browser, useSurfaceVisible reads it against the account.

The insights key owns no surface: it means AI analysis, and the Insights
area is data.

Marc-André Bombeck 464522f315 feat(ai): publish capabilities on the account payload
GET /api/auth/me gains ai: the state of every capability and the
provider block, resolved for the active record and masked to the
grant like moduleAccess. The authority comes from the switch the
payload already resolved, so a delegate reads not_permitted_for_record
and a guardian is limited to the operator's key.

useAiCapability is the web reader and fails closed until the payload
arrives. GET /api/feature-flags becomes a deprecated projection of the
operator switches with a Deprecation header and a link to its
successor.

Marc-André Bombeck a7888a9011 feat(ai): replace the Correlations switch with Reading documents
The operator switches become master, Coach, Daily Briefing, Status
notes and Reading documents. Correlations goes: it gated statistics,
not anything a model writes. Reading documents covers the document
vault, lab scans and medication extraction.

The Coach module's operator availability now follows the Coach
switch, so there is one place to turn the Coach off server-wide. The
migration folds a stored Coach availability of false into the switch,
and gives everyone who hid the Coach the AI analysis opt-out, since
hiding the Coach no longer stops nightly briefing and status notes.

A switch read that fails now fails closed. The insights module is
described as AI analysis in every locale, and the switch guard now
keeps both retired switches out and freezes the callers of the old
operator-only gate.

Marc-André Bombeck 12d6aa3078 Merge the scoped-grant fences, the delegate controls that ask their own section and the published switch refusals 2026-09-10 12:29:09 +02:00
Marc-André Bombeck f90307fd22 fix(auth): answer the setup state for the record the payload describes
The account payload resolved the setup state for the actor while its module
map, its cycle flag and every count the checklist reads beside it answer for
the active record. A guardian looking at a child's dashboard therefore got the
child's rows ordered by their own answers, and the child's reading count
tested against their own flow state. The two halves of that component have to
agree about whose record they describe, so the field is record-scoped now,
like the module map next to it.

Under a grant narrowed to one section the answers come back empty, for the
reason the module map is masked: they name the domains the record tracks, and
a grant that opens readings does not open that. The shape of the flow still
comes through.

The three write routes stay actor-only and say why: a delegable declaration is
a reviewed entry in the sharing surface guard, and a read that is wider than
its write is the honest shape while that entry is still to come.

Marc-André Bombeck dbfad0f28e feat(api): publish the setup state on the account payload, and read it
Additive: `onboarding` carries the nine steps with their status, the answers as
given, the flow's own completion stamp and the one task it offered. Always
present — a record that never entered the flow reads as empty answers with nine
pending steps, so a client branches on the statuses rather than on whether the
field exists, and an unknown step id is skipped rather than refused.

It is resolved for the CALLER's own record rather than for the active one,
unlike the two module fields beside it. The three write routes are actor-only,
and publishing a setup state the browser cannot write would be a read it could
act on and never complete.

Both ends land here, because a field with no reader is the failure this
repository keeps rediscovering. The getting-started checklist orders its rows
from the answers — medication first for somebody who takes one daily, the
data-source row first for somebody who named a wearable — and it stays on screen
while the flow is unfinished. That is the second half: five readings were never
evidence that the setup finished, and now a pending step, an unconfirmed set of
answers or an offered task that produced nothing keeps the list where it is.

The ordering only applies once the answers are confirmed. Re-ordering the
dashboard under somebody who is still mid-question would be movement they did
not ask for.

Marc-André Bombeck e7a1950f3a refactor(sharing): retire the coarse "may this person add" answer
`canWrite` is the grant's LEVEL and carries no scope term. Its docblock said
"May this caller ADD to that record", and the client hook republished it as
`canAdd`, so fourteen controls across measurements, medications, labs, illness
and the dashboard gated a create on a boolean that answers `true` for a WRITE
grant scoped to the document vault — a grant whose writable-section list is
empty, because the vault takes no delegated write at any level.

Nothing shipped was visibly wrong before the capture picker, because the nav
drops a section a grant does not open. That is a property of one surface, not
of the answer, and the answer is the thing many controls read.

So the coarse answer is gone from the hook, and every consumer asks
`canWriteDomain` for its own section instead: `measurements` on the two
measurement surfaces and the dashboard's empty state, `medications` on the
medication list, table, ledger, card menu and side effects, `labs` on the lab
list and biomarker detail, `illness` on the episode list. Each of those is the
section its own route declares. `canWrite` keeps its name and its wire shape —
native clients read it — and its docblock now says what it is: whether the
grant is a reading one, with the per-section lists beside it for the question a
control actually has.

The hook table gained the vault-scoped WRITE grant as its own leg: level true,
every section false. The take-all-due fixture described a grant the server
never mints — `canWrite: true` over an empty writable list — and now derives
its list from the same table the server derives it from.

Marc-André Bombeck 47a5079cfa feat(api): say why a module's surfaces are not there, not only that they are not
`GET /api/auth/me` publishes a boolean per module, and three different
situations collapse into the same `false`: the record has the module switched
off, the active grant's sections do not open it, or the operator switched it
off for the whole instance. A client holding the boolean has to guess between
them, so the empty state either says nothing or says something that may be
untrue -- offering a delegate a switch that is not theirs to reach, or telling
an account holder to turn on a module the operator removed.

`moduleAccess` carries the reason beside the booleans, which keep their exact
meaning: `enabled`, `disabled`, `not_granted`, `unavailable`, resolved
outside-in so the reason published is the one nothing further in can change.
`modules[key]` stays exactly `moduleAccess[key] === "enabled"` for every key,
and the two halves are built independently -- the boolean still runs through
`maskModulesToSections` -- so the test of that pairing is an assertion rather
than a restatement of a derivation. It is checked on the pure builder across a
matrix of grants, records and operator blobs, and again on the real route for a
scoped delegate, an unscoped one, and an operator-disabled module.

Both ends in one change, because a payload field with no reader is the failure
this repository keeps rediscovering. The reader is `ModuleDisabledNotice`, the
shared module-off empty state the empty-states audit asks for: it names the
reason in the reader's own language and offers the enable control only when the
record's own switch is what is off, since neither of the other two is fixable
from that page. The nutrients page adopts it and drops its bespoke block, which
had been handing every delegate a button that would refuse them.

Registered in the OpenAPI registry as `ModuleAccessMap` and carried on the
account payload; the native contract gains a field and loses nothing, since a
Bearer request carries no switch and never reads `not_granted`.

Marc-André Bombeck e95612e3d3 fix(sharing): show a guardian the controls the routes accept (#939)
useRecordCapabilities answers per section now. canWriteDomain and
canManageDomain read the two lists the account payload publishes; in
one's own record they are always true, and under a refused, pending or
unproven context always false. canManage becomes the coarse switch,
true when any section is manageable, and is what the banner and the
navigation read.

Every add, edit and delete control names its own section: labs, mind,
profile, illness, cycle, medications, measurements, documents. Creates
that a WRITE route answers (visits, practitioners) ask canWriteDomain.
The generic delete button, the selection bar, the capture picker, the
dashboard quick entry and the bottom nav take the section from their
callers. Controls whose routes resolve the caller rather than the
record (settings shortcuts, chart overlay preferences, custom metrics,
the Today rail, OCR, efficacy targets, credential tabs) ask for the
caller's own record instead, and the customise-shortcut guard now
requires that shape.

The vault has no delegated write route, so its controls stay withheld
under every grant, and the documents page says so in one sentence
where the upload control would be, in all seven locales.
